i'd love to play all of our games on campus, but that probably isn't a reality. Play all but cuse, ND and Uconn on campus, and yes that means pitt gets played at McDonough. Screw the revenue, we can't play all of our games against top notch opponents at MCI.

Are well all in agreement that if it was 8,000-9,000 capacity we could play all games there like cameron indoor..seems like such a waste that were gonna spend money on an arena we cant use all the time...cant we tear mcdonough down and build a bigger arena on that site?

i agree that if we can get 8-9000 at an on campus arena that we should play all of our games there. Any loss in revenue from MCI will hopefully be made up by the benefits of a great on campus arena. Better recruits + an actual home court advantage = better record. Better record = more NCAA appearances and better seeding when we get there. That equals more money for the bball program. Sure, it's a risk, but a risk many other schools have taken with great success.
The problem is that there isn't really space for 8-9000 seats on campus. Even if we tore down McDonough, there would be a ton of problems for the university as they try to navigate through the neighborhood and traffic issues. It's amazing that a university that has been there for over 200 years has as many issues with neighbors as they do. All it should require is GU applying some leverage on the DC government. We are the largest or second largest private employer in the District and I think we still have an alum on the DC city council. The means are there, the will on the part of the administration is not.
Traffic would be a pain, but again they need to think outside the box. Forcing a new university entrance on canal road with its own traffic light could help. Running extra buses for fans to the Rosslyn and Dupont stops would also help.
That said, I wouldn't get your hopes up for anything close to 9,000 seats. 6-6,500 is probably more realistic with this administration.

It'd be nice in say 10 years, but no way it happens in the near term. Let's not forget there's a new dorm going up about 100 feet from McD....

This doesn't have anything with the will of the administration. The politics of the neighborhoods north, east and west will not allow GU to "will" anything. It had to modify substantially the Southwest Quadrangle plans because of complained impact on neighbors. Realisticallly there is no way expand or re-build McD to the extent many would wish.
